wine experience

Let’s talk natural wine..
No strict rules here, but the vibe is clear!

Natural winegrowers produce wines that truly reflect the terroir, driven by a deep passion for their craft. Their commitment to making natural wine is rooted in respect for the environment and an appreciation for the soil.

This philosophy allows them to create high-quality wines with unique flavours and aromas. Natural wine vintners are generous in sharing information about their methods and philosophies, fostering transparency. This openness helps you understand exactly what’s in each bottle you buy, enhancing your appreciation for their craftsmanship. If you’re seeking an authentic, honest wine experience, natural wines are the perfect choice, offering new worlds of taste to explore.

“organically farmed (think biodynamic, permaculture, and beyond) and made without any cellar shenanigans. No additives, no processing aids, just pure, unadulterated fermentation magic. Minimal intervention means no fining or tight filtration, resulting in a wine that’s alive, kicking, and teeming with natural microbiology.

Here’s the deal: all natural wines are organic, but not all organic wines make the natural cut. ‘Organic’ and ‘biodynamic’ focus on how the grapes are grown, not what goes down in the cellar. You could have biodynamic grapes, but if you’re throwing in additives during winemaking, that’s not natural wine in our book. Luckily, there are plenty of organic and biodynamic wines that also keep it natural—and they’re delicious.

If you’re all about what you consume, the environment clean eating, loving the planet, and cutting down on pollution, natural wine is your jam. Its farming practices are more environmentally friendly compared to conventional methods, and without residual products like pesticides and insecticides, you’re not introducing pollutants into your body either.

A happy body stays, and a happy mind..

When you craft wine with Indigenous yeast and minimal fuss, you get a true taste of its origins. So, if authenticity is your thing, natural or low-intervention wines are the way to go. They offer a genuine, unfiltered taste of place and product, making every sip an adventure in authenticity. Cheers to that!

Created by nature, Recreated by man.

Storing Natural Wines: The Lowdown.

So, how do you stash your natural wines? Pretty much like conventional ones—keep them away from sunlight and extreme temperatures. I’ve aged sulphite-free wines in my home cellar for years, and they’ve held up beautifully.

Natural wines are a bit more sensitive than their conventional cousins because they react to their environment. They’re essentially alive.

But here’s the kicker: once opened, natural wines can outlast conventional ones. Just pop the cork back in, and most will stay fresh in the fridge for days, even weeks. I once kept a bottle open for months.

How long a natural wine will age depends on its production and whether it’s meant for immediate enjoyment. Some wines are bottled early and best enjoyed within the year.

In our experience, natural wines can age beautifully for years, even decades in some cases. This usually comes down to the producer’s skill, starting with super healthy grapes and giving the wines time to mature and stabilize before bottling. And this are exact those winemakers we like to work with at Grand Foulard, so cheers to that!

Support the small producers that care about our planet and future.

Small producers are the real MVPs when it comes to adopting sustainable practices and focusing on quality over quantity. Their wines are almost always fresher and higher in quality compared to mass-produced industrial ones. By becoming a fan of natural wine, you’re not just enjoying great wine—you’re also supporting these passionate producers and boosting the industry.

Sustainable practices + quality ingredients = natural wines that rock traditional wines out of the park. After tasting thousands of wines, We can safely say we prefer natural wines for their unique subtleties, energy, flavours, and sheer excitement. We just became fed up with the boring, predictable industrial wines.

Feel Better..

Natural wines are free from preservatives and contain fewer sulfites. In our experience, natural wines reduce the risk of headaches and hangovers precisely because they lack sulfites and additives. But it’s best to try this out for yourself.

They often have a lower alcohol content than conventional wines, making them a great choice if you want to enjoy wine without getting too drunk or if you want to sample several different wines in one evening.

Plus, choosing natural wines is better for the environment and your carbon footprint
