Domaine du Phénix ° Christian Marti
Peyriac de Mer
The Phenix was reborn in 2014 when Christian Marti, along with some friends and family, took over this little paradise located in Peyriac de Mer in the Corbières Maritimes.
These old vines (averaging 70 years) consist of 4 grape varieties: Carignan, Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Syrah for the reds, and Macabeu, Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier for the whites.
Our focus is on the invisible and the living. We rely on all available knowledge and discoveries to care for the ecosystem and biodiversity. The application of biodynamics and permaculture allows us to bring coherence to the entire vineyard within its environment of garrigues and pine forests. Vinifications are carried out with lithotherapy, and all wines are serenaded day and night by the cantatas of Bach and Vivaldi.
The rise of the Phénix!
Every natural element that creates this ecosystem has been treated with the utmost respect to produce our wine. We adopt principles of permaculture and biodynamics to restore a favourable balance for all. In the cellar, we age our wines in oak barrels and amphorae for several months, depending on the cuvée, with very few sulphites for our 2014, 2015, and 2016 vintages, and without added sulphites for our cuvées since 2017.
LE TERROIR
On lands swept by the cold northwest winds and the warm, humid marine from the Mediterranean basin, Domaine du Phénix is located on a plateau between the Corbières massif, the Abbey of Fontfroide, and the Bages ponds.
The vineyard is a century old, and its lands are characterized by clay-limestone soil. The microclimate of this plateau enhances the unique character of the different grape varieties, contributing to the production of atypical wines.
BRUMA
100% natural, 100% Carignan. It is the expression of Carignan in all its splendor. Aged for six months in toasted barrels, then blended in stainless steel tanks.
Our Philosophy: A Living Wine
Our focus is on the invisible and the living. We rely on all available knowledge and discoveries to care for the ecosystem and biodiversity. The application of biodynamics and permaculture allows us to bring coherence to the entire vineyard within its environment of garrigues and pine forests.
Vinifications are carried out with lithotherapy, and all wines are serenaded day and night by the cantatas of Bach and Vivaldi.
Since 2017, all our wines are vinified with indigenous yeasts, without added sulfites, and unfiltered.
Keeping the essential elements in the wine for health remains our priority.
Grape Varieties
The vineyard covers 12 hectares with the main grape varieties being Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah for the reds, and Macabeu, Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier for the whites.
CORO AOP CORBIÈRES
A blend of Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah. A powerful wine with a garnet robe, aromas of red fruits, and notes of pepper and garrigue. A gastronomic wine for all dishes, it pairs well with both raw and cooked fish, red meats, charcuterie, and cheeses.
Vinified and then aged for twelve months in 600-liter barrels.
